Moby Dick

Runaway Brewery came to Rootin' Tootin' with a challenge: bring Moby Dick Pale Ale to life in a way that would stand out on crowded shelves and resonate with a younger audience, without losing the heritage of Herman Melville’s iconic story.

We developed a bold, contemporary identity that fuses classic literary themes with a fresh, modern edge. The wordmark reimagines the power of the whale through striking typographic forms, while the colour palette captures the bleak drama of the novel in a minimal, contemporary way. Every detail, from the label design to the supporting digital assets was crafted to feel distinctive, memorable and versatile.

The result is a brand system that sails well beyond the bottle: adaptable across events, social media and digital campaigns, while giving Runaway Brewery a beer identity that is as uncompromising as the story itself.

Two billboards showing promotional designs for Moby Dick beer: one shows a can opening with text reading 'There she blows,' and the second shows the can underwater with a boat floating on the ocean and the text 'Call me.

"We really liked the direction Rootin' Tootin' took with Moby Dick. The pump badge stood out straight away at Hold Fast Bar and quickly became a bit of a favourite. It's striking, memorable and gave the beer an identity that feels different to anything else we've put out."
